Sam Leak is a Jazz Piano player from Earlsfield in South London.Sam (20) is currently studying on the Classical music course at Kings College London; alongside which he is taught Jazz Piano and Composition at the Royal Academy of Music. He performs at venues such as The Bulls Head, The Ram Jam Club (home of Way out West), Jazz After Dark, The Rising Sun and The Progress Bar. His Jazz teachers have included such established artists as Simon Purcell, Liam Noble and Pete Churchill; and he has previously attended a Master class with Jazz-bass legend Dave Holland. He performs with artists such as: Joshua Blackmore (: "19 Year old Wonderkid" - Tom Cawley , and "Scary Drumming" - JazzWise), Bukky Leo (Pharoah Sanders, Fela Kuti, Tony Kofi), Duncan Eagles and Andy Grosshart. Sam plays in and organises Jazz groups of different sizes from a simple Solo piano performance to sextets and larger. His main project is his Quintet featuring Joshua Blackmore, Calum Gourlay, Freddie Gavita and Duncan Eagles which performs original work alongside the work of familiar Jazz artists including Keith Jarrett, Kenny Wheeler and Wayne Shorter. He is also part of the bluesy Jazz standards group The Dan Redding Quartet, and The Bukky Leo Quartet. He is available to perform in simple duo and trio lineups in various set ups (duos would usually be piano and guitar or piano and bass). In addition to Contemporary Jazz Sam is involved funk and fusion music making. He also runs the Rising Sun Sunday Jazz Jam with the Sam Leak House Trio (with Josh Blackmore and Calum Gourlay).
